Deshaun Watson was born on September 14, 1995, in Gainesville, Georgia to parents DeAndrea and DeAnn Watson. Deshaun has two older sisters, Tiffany and Tydiana. He attended Gainesville High School, where he was a three-sport star in football, basketball, and baseball. As a senior, he named the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Watson attended Clemson University, where he played football for three seasons. He was a highly touted prospect coming out of high school and did not disappoint during his time at Clemson. He helped lead the Tigers to three college football playoff wins, two national championship appearances, one national title, and a 32-2 record in games he started and finished. In 2016, his junior year, he led Clemson to a national championship victory over Alabama. He was named the game's most valuable player and was a finalist for the Heisman trophy in 2016. After his junior year, Watson decided to forego his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft.

Watson was drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft and to a playoff berth in his rookie season. In his rookie season, he started 12 games and threw for 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also ran for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Watson's play helped the Texans to a 9-7 record and an AFC South Division title. He was-named the NFL Rookie of the Year. As a rookie, he completed 61.8 percent of his passes for 4,165 yards and 26 touchdowns, with 16 interceptions. He also rushed for 551 yards.  Watson suffered a torn ACL in November 2017 and missed the remainder of his rookie season.

Watson is 6 feet 3 inches in height, 6 2 plus 1 half inch, and weighs 215 to 221 pounds. He ran a 4.32 second 40-yard shuttle at the NFL combined. Deshaun Watson had a strong showing at the NFL combined, turning in some impressive numbers.  His 40-yard dash time of 4.66 seconds was among the best of the quarterbacks.
